In 1995, Diego Muñoz Tamayo began his independent practice concentrating on the first privatizations in Colombia in the 1990s, whose specialty has been maintained over the years, making the firm a leader in the sector. Developing a practice that focuses on Corporate Law, he is recognized for his great talent in structuring complex transactions and his ingenuity advising clients in strategic negotiations. Diego Muñoz Tamayo has participated in important matters related to different sectors of the economy, including energy, mining, telecommunications, finance and insurance, among others, not only as a legal advisor but also as an arbitrator.

When it is said that Diego Muñoz Tamayo “wrote the book” about privatizations in Colombia, he means business. Published in 2004, “Privatizations in Colombia: Legal Framework for the Transfer of State Property,” remains the most important doctrine on the subject. He has also published many articles on the financial sector and topics such as Colombia’s foreign debt and legal and procedural aspects of public credit in Colombia.
